UMR is a third-party administrator for self-funded employer plans, and its behavioral health network runs through Optum — which this practice is credentialed with. If your employer's card says UMR, your therapy benefits almost certainly apply here.

What UMR members should know

• Self-funded plans vary more than standard commercial plans, so verifying is worth the five minutes
• Telehealth is generally covered at the same rate as office visits
• Many plans apply a deductible first, then a copay or coinsurance
• Claims are filed for you — no reimbursement paperwork on your end

How to check your coverage in five minutes

• Find the member services number on the back of your insurance card
• Ask: "Do I have outpatient mental health telehealth benefits?"
• Ask what your copay or coinsurance is per session
• Ask whether your deductible applies and how much of it is left this year
• Ask whether a referral or prior authorization is required
